Built-in Kitchen Appliance Installation — What You Need to Know

23 April 20265 min read

Built-in appliances — more than simple placement

Built-in kitchen appliances — ovens, ceramic or induction hobs, dishwashers — look simple to install, but in practice require expertise in electrical engineering, plumbing and carpentry.

Oven and hob

Induction and ceramic hobs operate on three-phase power (400V / 3×16A). The connection must be made by an electrically qualified person — otherwise the warranty becomes void and the risk of failure or fire increases.

The oven must be installed with a minimum 10mm gap from the sides of the kitchen unit for heat ventilation.

Dishwasher

In addition to water and drain connections, the dishwasher must be level with the front edge of the kitchen worktop and aligned with surrounding units.

Refrigerators and freezers

Built-in refrigerators require at least 5 cm of free space on the sides and back. Insufficient ventilation results in higher electricity consumption, noisier operation and a shorter compressor lifespan.

Warranty protection

Most manufacturers (Bosch, Siemens, Miele, AEG) state in their warranty conditions that installation must be carried out by an authorised technician.
